The Diary of Melvin Sanborn by Lewis Leslie Available March 1

Author: Lewis Leslie

“As he struggles to adapt to a new family, young Melvin is tormented by the monster that murdered his parents. He must find a way to defeat the beast and convince his foster parents that he hasn’t completely lost his grip on reality.”

After being gifted a diary for his birthday where his dad inscribed “I hope this helps in some way to make you a better man,” nine-year-old Melvin is awoken in the night by the sound of his parents’ screams. A terrifying creature emerges from their cabin bedroom. Local officers arrive on the scene and escort Melvin back to the station. During questioning, he tells them that a monster killed his parents, but they don’t believe him. No one does.

Melvin’s placed in a foster home where he experiences recurring visions of the creature coming for him and the ones he loves. In college, after the beast chases off his one true love, he comes to terms with the inevitability that he must face the monster head on. Melvin returns to the cabin, diary in hand, with his new mantra: “If you don’t face your fears, they will haunt you forever.”
