Horror History: Thursday, February 7, 1980: Cannibal Holocaust was released in Italian theaters
A professor returns from a rescue mission to the Amazon with the footage shot by a lost team of documentarians who were making a film about the area’s cannibal tribes. The brutal deaths of the filmmakers are recorded on the footage, along with their own cruelty towards and manipulation of the native people and each other. After viewing the footage a group of film executives order it destroyed.
