Watch Them Come Blood (2024) Available August 26

Evoking the spirit of ’80s grindhouse cinema, WATCH THEM COME BLOOD initially focuses on a group of road tripping friends trailing after a public pervert who leads them to a very peculiar brothel… until a few other players are thrown into the mix. Co-scripted by DIY director Mike Cuenca and producer Joaquin Dominguez, this non-linear story transforms into an exquisite corpse of cinema—a collaborative collage where horror, black humor, indie romance, and post-punk aesthetics coexist. The film doesn’t just pay homage to its influences; it absorbs and reinterprets them, resulting in a piece that’s as unpredictable as it is entertaining, balancing absurdity with genuine suspense.

STARRING: Hannah Marie Connally, Kyle Colton, Joey Halter, Lillian Solange Beaudoin

After innocent, straight edge skater Paul is taunted and murdered by a carload of drunken longhairs, he is crudely resurrected by a mysterious, pot-smoking mad scientist as a masked, sword wielding psychopath with a horrifying facial skin graft and a skateboard bolted directly to his foot. Determined to enact bloodthirsty revenge on his killers and their cohorts, Paul marauds through the parking lots, warehouses, and house parties of Gainesville in a splatter fueled cacophony of homespun gore, psychedelic drugs, ‘80s skate punk culture, abrasive stock footage, and gobs of raspberry soda.

Initially envisioned as a document of the thriving underground music scene in Gainesville, Florida (as well as a cinematic adaptation of his self-published, DIY fanzine Twisted Tissues), TWISTED ISSUES marked the SOV feature debut of visionary writer / director Charles Pinion (Red Spirit Lake, We Await) and announced the arrival of a singular and electrifying new voice within the video underground. A lo-fi explosion of raw creativity and youthful exuberance, TWISTED ISSUES remains one of the quintessential, regional SOV masterpieces of the 1980s; an experimental, cinema verité slasher film like no other that Film Threat magazine notoriously dubbed one of the top “25 underground films you must see”!

In Rome, Inspector Anna Mari receives a macabre surprise for her birthday when an email lands in her inbox from someone calling themself “The Card Player”, and claiming to be the one responsible for the recent kidnapping of a British tourist. In a sadistic twist, the kidnapper challenges the authorities to a game of online poker to determine whether the young woman lives or dies. When the Police Commissioner forbids his team to go through with the game, the maniac brutally slaughters the tourist before their very eyes via webcam, later dumping the body in a river. As more and more women are abducted from the streets of the Italian capital and subjected to the same treatment, Anna Mari joins forces with Irish policeman John Brennan and young poker whizz-kid Remo in an attempt to beat The Card Player at their own deadly game.

A later giallo offering from the master of the form, Dario Argento’s (Deep Red, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage) THE CARD PLAYER takes all the familiar trappings of the genre and plants them firmly in an early 2000s milieu, complete with a fittingly pulsing, contemporary electronic score by Claudio Simonetti (Suspiria, Tenebrae). Co-scripted by regular Argento collaborator Franco Ferrini (Phenomena, Demons) and featuring gruesome corpse special effects from Sergio Stivaletti (Cemetery Man), Vinegar Syndrome is delighted to present THE CARD PLAYER in its world UHD debut, newly restored in 4K from the original camera negative and loaded with a full deck of both new and archival extras.

Feast your eyes on this twisted and horrifying vision of the Hewitts’ origins…

After 2003’s successful remake of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes would take another trip to the Lone Star State for the terrifying prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

An altercation with a shotgun-wielding biker leads them to crash their car, only for them to be rescued by Sheriff Hoyt. But their savior isn’t as benevolent as he seems, and the gang are taken hostage and dragged to the residence of the murderous Hewitt family, among them Hoyt’s brother Thomas, a hulking brute who conceals his face behind a leather mask.

After picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw-wielding loon.

For its inaugural film, Michael Bay’s studio Platinum Dunes brought together scriptwriter Scott Kosar (The Machinist) and director Marcus Nispel (2009’s Friday the 13th) for a grisly update of Tobe Hooper’s classic tale of Texan terror. The result would conquer the 2003 box office, introducing a new generation of genre fans to the franchise.

A group of carefree young adults’ road trip through Texas is cut short when the panic-stricken hitchhiker they’ve picked up shoots herself in the back of their vehicle. Desperate to find help, our heroes are directed to the home of the local Sheriff, but little do they know they are stumbling into the lair of the Hewitts, the most violent family in all of Texas, including their chainsaw-wielding son.

Described by critic Roger Ebert as “vile, ugly and brutal”, 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a boundary pushing, agonizingly violent gorefest masterpiece ready to traumatize and delight horror fans anew with this brand new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition!

THE WORLDWIDE BLU-RAY PREMIERE OF THE INFAMOUS ANTHOLOGY SERIES DIRECTED BY LAMBERTO BAVA

In the late ’80s, Lamberto Bava agreed to direct a four-part anthology series for Italian TV under the title High Tension. But when executives saw the completed features’ extreme themes and graphic violence, their broadcast was blocked for nearly a decade and they have only existed as grey market bootlegs since. Severin Films now presents their Official Worldwide Blu-ray Premiere: Tomas Arana stars as a horror director stalked by evil forces in THE PRINCE OF TERROR, written by Dardano Sacchetti and featuring grisly FX by Sergio Stivaletti. In THE MAN WHO WOULDN’T DIE, adapted from a short story by poliziotteschi novelist Giorgio Scerbanenco, the survivor of a home invasion seeks vengeance. Daria Nicolodi stars in SCHOOL OF FEAR about a student academy with a dark secret. And in the giallo shocker EYE WITNESS, Barbara Cupisti stars as a blind woman who ‘sees’ a murder. All four films are scanned in 2K from the original camera negatives with Italian and first time ever English tracks, plus over 5 hours of Special Features and a Soundtrack CD curated by Simon Boswell featuring music from High Tension, THE MASK OF SATAN, DEMONS 2, DELIRIUM and more.

A brilliantly original and twisted take on female suppression, dangerous male predators and the pains of adolescence.

From the exquisite mind of Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin and V/H/S/94) comes Perpetrator, a brilliantly original and twisted take on female suppression, dangerous male predators and the pains of adolescence, with a stunning lead performance from Kiah McKirnan.

On the eve of her 18th birthday, wild and rebellious Jonny is sent by her father to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie, where she begins to experience a radical metamorphosis: a family spell called the Forevering. With her newly uncovered powers, alongside a growing obsession with blood, a freshly feral and self-assured Jonny sets out on a perilous hunt to find a lethal perpetrator, responsible for the disappearances of several local women.

Superbly blending a feminist coming-of-age drama with serial killer and supernatural fantasy genres, Perpetrator is beautifully shot in Bava-esque colors by director of photography Sevdije Kastrati, and features a phenomenal supporting cast, including Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Melanie Liburd (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) and Christopher Lowell (Promising Young Woman).

The Last Man on Earth (1964) Available August 15

The Last Man on Earth is a post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film and stars Vincent Price and Franca Bettoia. It is 1968, and Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a plague that has turned them into undead, vampire creatures that cannot stand sunlight. They also fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. The creatures would kill Morgan if they could, but they are weak and unintelligent. Morgan starts each day the same, waking up and gathering his weapons to kill as many vampires as he can, and burning their bodies so they cannot come back to life. Morgan’s wife and daughter had succumbed to the plague, but he did not take the wife’s body to the public burn pit to dispose of her. Instead, he brought his wife’s body home and she attacked him. This incident made him aware of the fact that he must kill the plague victims with a wooden stake. Morgan spots a woman, Ruth (Franca Bettoia) who runs from him, but Morgan convinces her to return to his home. The woman is infected with the plague and tells Morgan that the vampires he has killed are still alive. While Ruth is asleep, Morgan transfuses his own blood into Ruth. She is immediately cured, and Morgan sees hope that together they can cure the rest of the infected people who have come back to life. But those undead are now coming for Morgan. Can he stave them off or is he going to lose his own life? A terrific horror sci-fi starring the great Vincent Price. (86 minutes – 1964 – Black & White – 16:9 (Widescreen)

Ringu (1998) Available September 2

A reporter and her ex-husband investigate a cursed video tape that is rumored to kill the viewer seven days after watching it.

In 1998, director Hideo Nakata (Dark Water) unleashed a chilling tale of technological terror on unsuspecting audiences, which redefined the horror genre, launched the J-horror boom in the West and introduced a generation of moviegoers to a creepy, dark-haired girl called Sadako. The film’s success spawned a slew of remakes, reimaginations and imitators, but none could quite boast the power of Nakata’s original masterpiece, which melded traditional Japanese folklore with contemporary anxieties about the spread of technology.

A group of teenage friends are found dead, their bodies grotesquely contorted, their faces twisted in terror. Reiko (Nanako Matsushima, When Marnie Was There), a journalist and the aunt of one of the victims, sets out to investigate the shocking phenomenon, and in the process uncovers a creepy urban legend about a supposedly cursed videotape, the contents of which causes anyone who views it to die within a week – unless they can persuade someone else to watch it, and, in so doing, pass on the curse…

Arrow Video is proud to present Ringu, the film that started it all, restored from the original negative in glorious 4K and supplemented by a wealth of bonus materials.
