During World War II, a military plane was shot down over Gunma Prefecture, Japan, crashing into a forest. Fifty years later, a giant weasel-like monster named Noroi stalks the countryside, killing anyone who trespasses on his territory. Freelance reporters Makube, Sakurai, and Sugino are sent by a news station to investigate a series of murders in Gunma. Their search leads them to an old legend about a monster that hunts those who enter the woods.
