Arbelos Films presents NADJA – Director Michael Almereyda and Executive Producer David Lynch conjure a rare vampire film.
Following their father’s death at the hands of Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Fonda), New York-based vampire Nadja (Elina Löwensohn) and her companion Renfield (Karl Geary) are drawn close to her estranged and ailing twin brother Edgar (Jared Harris). As Van Helsing pursues this “fiend” from Manhattan to Transylvania, his nephew Jim (Martin Donovan), Jim’s wife Lucy (Galaxy Craze), and Edgar’s private nurse Cassandra (Suzy Amis) are pulled into an escalating battle between bloodlines.
Merging elements from DRACULA’S DAUGHTER (1936) with André Breton’s surrealist novel *Nadja* (1928), writer-director Michael Almereyda crafts a vampire film steeped in many genres yet beholden to none. Executive produced by David Lynch, NADJA blends shimmering black-and-white 35mm with hallucinatory Pixelvision video to create one of the most inspired visions of 90s independent cinema.
