This is the shocking case of Christian Rudolf Martahi Tobing, a pastor and therapist from Indonesia whose carefully planned crime stunned the nation.
In October 2022, Ade Yunia Rizabani, known as Icha, agreed to help Rudolf film what she believed was a promotional video. Instead, she walked into a trap. After years of secretly harboring resentment toward former friends, Rudolf carried out a plan that ended in kidnapping, robbery, and murder.
When investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment building, they discovered something chilling. Rudolf appeared calm, relaxed, and even cheerful as he wheeled a shopping cart containing Icha’s body through the lobby.
The footage quickly went viral across Indonesia, earning him a nickname that the public would never forget: The Smiling Killer.
