Corky, a struggling magician, reinvents himself as a ventriloquist with a foul-mouthed dummy named Fats. The act becomes an overnight sensation, but Corky’s fragile mental state begins to fracture as Fats seems to develop a will of his own. Fearing a mandatory psychological exam that could expose his instability, Corky flees to his hometown and reconnects with a former love.
