From the USA Today bestselling author of the international sensation Baby Teeth comes a claustrophobic psychological thriller about one woman’s nightmarish spiral while quarantined with her mother.

Grace isn’t exactly thrilled when her newly widowed mother, Jackie, asks to move in with her. They’ve never had a great relationship, and Grace likes her space―especially now that she’s stuck at home during a pandemic. Then again, she needs help with the mortgage after losing her job. And maybe it’ll be a chance for them to bond―or at least give each other a hand.

But living with Mother isn’t for everyone. Good intentions turn bad soon after Jackie moves in. Old wounds fester; new ones open. Grace starts having nightmares about her disabled twin sister, who died when they were kids. And Jackie discovers that Grace secretly catfishes people online―a hobby Jackie thinks is unforgivable.

For Sebastian, completing the story means escaping from a ruined life to a place free of pain and suffering. The manuscript tells him as much, first on the page and then in his dreams. We’re waiting for you, the voices whisper. All are welcome within the room of cloth. All are saved.

When Sarah also falls under the manuscript’s influence, she begins a desperate bid to save herself and the family she once abandoned, unaware that Sebastian may have already opened the door to a fate neither can escape—even in death.

Thongs and Bongs in Satan’s Shadow (Dark and Deep in the Heart) by Gary Wrenn Available March 1

Author: Gary Wrenn

Texans believe there exists an otherworldly “saying” that can be used for revenge following moments of inconceivable injustice. When heinous crimes lead to heartbreak and death. Some deaths uncalled for, some more violent than others, and some too soon in the lives of those involved. More complex than words can describe, this “saying” is a supernatural entity, a form of communication somewhere between a poem, a chant, a ritual, and a summoning. It is neither good nor bad, a product not of heaven or hell, capable of working no matter one’s religious creed, social standing, or ethnicity. Once spoken, it can give the dead a small window of opportunity to return to the land of the living to set the wrongs right. If granted powers from the “saying,” the Returned has only the limit of their imagination in correcting the wrongdoing, any power they wish, in any form, is at their disposal. But make no mistake, the wrongdoers will receive fair treatment in the eyes of the Returned. The last known sighting of one of these manifestations of the Returned occurred during Spring Break in South Padre Island, Texas on March 17 and 18, 2014.
