Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Original Trailer (Kenneth Branagh, 1994)

Be Warned… It’s Alive!

Kenneth Branagh leads an all-star cast including Robert De Niro, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Hulce, Ian Holm, John Cleese and Aidan Quinn in his definitive cinematic version of Mary Shelley’s classic tale of gothic terror.

At the turn of the 19th century, visionary scientist Victor Frankenstein (Kenneth Branagh) embarks on an obsessive quest to conquer the mysteries of human mortality. But his hubristic bid to create life out of death goes hideously wrong, and succeeds only in begetting a deformed monster (Robert De Niro).

Horrified by what he has wrought, the scientist attempts to destroy his creation, but fails. Rejected by his creator and shunned by the world of man, the tormented creature swears vengeance against Frankenstein and his family. As the monster begins to enact his murderous revenge, Victor must face a terrible reckoning with the tragic consequences of attempting to play God.

Mary Shelley’s seminal novel is one of the most adapted books of all time, and this retelling faithfully goes back to the original source, lushly transforming the story’s twin themes of love and death into a darkly operatic gothic romance.

Unlike many versions of Shelley’s novel, Branagh’s adaptation understands that Frankenstein’s misbegotten creation is as pitiable as he is monstrous, and never loses sight of the human tragedy lying at the core of its horrific tale. Filled with sweeping, atmospheric visuals and powerfully emotional performances from an award-winning ensemble of acting talent, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein stands as a landmark interpretation of this enduring masterpiece.

Mill of the Stone Women Official Trailer

Before Black Sabbath, before The Whip and the Body, director Giorgio Ferroni (The Lion of Thebes, Blood for a Silver Dollar) introduced audiences to period horror Italian-style with his chilling 1960 shocker Mill of the Stone Women – a classic tale of terror redolent with the atmosphere of vintage Hammer Horror.

Young art student Hans von Arnam (Pierre Brice, Night of the Damned) arrives by barge at an old mill to write a monograph about its celebrated sculptures of women in the throes of death and torture, maintained and curated by the mill’s owner, the hermetic Professor Wahl (Herbert Böhme, Secret of the Red Orchid). But when Hans encounters the professor’s beautiful and mysterious daughter Elfi (Scilla Gabel, Modesty Blaise), his own fate becomes inexorably bound up with hers, and with the shocking secret that lies at the heart of the so-called Mill of the Stone Women.

The first Italian horror film to be shot in color, Mill of the Stone Women prefigured a raft of other spaghetti nightmares, including the work of maestros Mario Bava and Dario Argento. Arrow Video is proud to present this brand-new restoration of one of the foundational titles of Italian horror.

Humanoids from Atlantis (1992) Available December 21

Faced with a prolonged bitter Ohio winter in March, 1992 and a distributor release date just weeks away, producer J.R. Bookwalter (“The Dead Next Door”) had no choice but to toss out the majority of his “Humanoids From Atlantis” screenplay and have the cast and crew make it up as they went along. The result is a complete cinematic abomination that has to be seen to be believed, but strangely compelling in a meta kind of way.

Galaxy of the Dinosaurs (1992) Available December 21

Shot over three and half days in February, 1992 for under $1,500, “Galaxy of the Dinosaurs” keeps tongue firmly in cheek as producer J.R. Bookwalter (“The Dead Next Door”) brazenly intercuts 35mm stock footage from the 1977 movie “Planet of the Dinosaurs” into this camcorder quickie shot in the woods behind his father’s Mogadore, Ohio house. The results are as outrageous as you might expect, one of several reasons the original VHS release remains a coveted collector’s item nearly three decades later. Stopping for a brief lunch break on the planet Gurgon (which looks remarkably like Earth), five innocent Zyroxans (who look remarkably like humans) encounter chaos and terror when a race of ferocious dinosaurs become hell-bent on turning their intergalactic field trip into a full-fledged fright fest! Remastered from original Super-VHS-C camera masters with additional 2020 restoration work, “Galaxy of the Dinosaurs” roars onto Blu-ray together with never-before-seen bonus materials from the Tempe vaults, three audio commentaries, and original 1992 home video presentation captured from the archival edit master.

STARRING: James Black, Christine Morrison, Bill Morrison, Tom Hoover, James L. Edwards
