Reeling from the tragic death of his wife and children in a car crash for which he feels partly responsible, American architect Paul Carver travels to Morocco in a state of despair. Haunted by nightmares and ominous premonitions, he befriends German archaeologist Otto Gunther on his flight — an encounter that leads him into a world of ancient folklore and supernatural danger.
At Gunther’s home, Carver meets Marisa, a striking and ethereal Moroccan woman who lures him to a remote palace. When Gunther and his assistant Chantal later find Carver unconscious in the desert, they dismiss his story as drunken fantasy — but Gunther begins to fear that dark forces may be targeting his new friend, and that Carver’s very soul may be at stake.
A true outlier in 1960s British horror, The Hand of Night (also known as Beast of Morocco) offers a hypnotic and atmospheric twist on the vampire mythos. Filmed largely on location in Morocco, the film stands apart from its Hammer contemporaries with its sweeping desert landscapes and eerie sense of mysticism. Featuring William Sylvester, Diane Clare, and Edward Underdown, Vinegar Syndrome Labs proudly presents the film’s first‑ever disc release, newly restored and accompanied by a suite of bonus features.
