A Grieving Father, a Difficult Daughter and Something Far Darker Taking Root
Netflix has filled out the core ensemble surrounding Steven Yeun in Pagans, the streamer’s upcoming supernatural drama from Say Nothing creator Joshua Zetumer, as first reported by Deadline. Sabine Grace, Logan Kim, Marin Ireland and Intae Kim have all signed on for starring roles.
Yeun leads the series as Gus, a man left to raise his two kids on his own after his wife dies unexpectedly. His son Nate is about as ordinary as they come, but his daughter Alice is another story entirely, and the friction between father and daughter gradually curdles into something much more sinister. Deadline describes it as a show that “unearths darkest thoughts about family.”
Grace, making her television debut, plays Alice, the odd one out in the household who holds everyone at a distance and spends most of her time inside her own head. Logan Kim (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) takes on Nate, the dependable, well-liked older sibling who often feels overlooked after growing up in his little sister’s shadow. It marks the second time Kim has played Yeun’s son, following his turn as teenage Hershel Rhee, the child of Yeun’s Glenn and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie, on The Walking Dead: Dead City.
Ireland (Dope Thief, His & Hers) is Janelle, a single mother trying her hardest to bond with her headstrong 14-year-old daughter, Jade. Intae Kim (Best Medicine, Succession) rounds out the new additions as Casey, Gus’ younger brother, who turns up whenever the family needs help, whether or not anyone thanks him for it. Zetumer serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Goddard Textiles’ Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, and Celadon Pictures’ Yeun and Christina Oh also on board as executive producers.
