Anna Templeton takes on the Chicago Ripper Crew, the four men behind a series of abductions and murders of women in Chicago in 1981 and 1982. She covers the survivor who helped police identify them and the 2019 release of Thomas Kokoraleis.
They abducted women, cut off their breasts and allegedly used their remains in SATANIC RITUALS. But the Chicago Ripper Crew case gets even more disturbing… because one of the men responsible eventually WALKED FREE.
Between 1981 and 1982, four men terrorised Chicago, Illinois, carrying out a series of horrific attacks against unsuspecting women. What began as seemingly unrelated disappearances and murders would eventually expose one of the most disturbing true crime cases in American history.
Robin Gecht, Edward Spreitzer, Andrew Kokoraleis and Thomas Kokoraleis became known as the Chicago Ripper Crew — a group linked to brutal abductions, sexual violence, mutilation and allegations of ritualistic cannibalism.
Women were disappearing from ordinary streets, workplaces and neighbourhoods. Some were later discovered with horrific injuries. Others would never be found. And as investigators began connecting the crimes, the details emerging from the men’s confessions were almost impossible to comprehend.
There were allegations of severed body parts being taken to Robin Gecht’s home, where the group supposedly performed grotesque rituals inside an attic they called their satanic chapel.
But in October 1982, one young woman survived an attack that would help police finally identify the men involved.
What followed was a shocking criminal investigation involving disturbing confessions, conflicting accounts, murder trials and revelations that would horrify even experienced detectives.
And perhaps one of the most unbelievable parts of this entire case? Despite his involvement in these horrific crimes, Thomas Kokoraleis was released from prison in 2019.
This is the deeply disturbing true story of the Chicago Ripper Crew — the four men whose crimes left a trail of devastated families, unanswered questions and a legacy that continues to haunt Illinois.
In this true crime deep dive, we explore the victims, the investigation, the evidence against the four men, the alleged satanic rituals, the confessions, the trials and how one survivor helped bring the nightmare to an end.
