The local biologist, Kara, assists the Sheriff and discovers that the red tide algae are consuming a blood sample she examines. Amid this calamity, the homegrown self-proclaimed Skunk Ape expert has evidence that the Florida Bigfoot is the actual killer. The Sheriff eventually tracks down the convict, which leads to the Sheriff’s brutal murder. This killing sets forth a showdown between Tommy, the Sheriff’s son, and the killer now known as the Red Tide Monster. The Monster moves through the coastal community and sets his sights on Rio. Finally, Tommy saves Rio and rids the town of the Monster. By the way, Kara has kept a sample of the Monster’s DNA.
