Scream Too Loud in Your Living Room and the Alien May Come Looking
Creative Assembly has opened up about its sequel to the 2014 survival horror favorite in a new developer Q&A video, confirming that the game will be sold on disc, will include a photo mode and will offer an optional feature that pipes real-world sound from your microphone into the game, according to IGN’s reporting.
The microphone option is the headline addition. When switched on, whatever your mic picks up, whether it’s a gasp, a mug set down too hard or a barking dog, becomes noise inside the game world, meaning the Xenomorph or other dangers could be drawn toward you by something happening in your actual room.
The sequel picks up a few months after the original and, as its reveal trailer hinted, sends players outside for stretches of the game. The team says the creature won’t give up the chase when you leave the corridors behind; instead it will use open ground, rain and hail to stalk you more aggressively than before. Creative Assembly is still building the experience around a single relentless alien rather than a swarm, in keeping with the 1979 film that inspired it.
For those who like to stop and frame the dread, the photo mode is being designed to work like a real camera, with depth of field, lighting controls and filters inspired by the films. Roughly a third of the original development crew has returned for the follow-up, and lead game designer James Green described working on it as a “dream project.” The physical release is planned for the game’s 2027 launch.
