The Apartment-Bound Nightmare Where One Glance Through the Window Changes Everything Hits Consoles Next Week
Console players will soon get their chance to stay away from the windows. Devolver Digital and solo developer Francis Coulombe are bringing the pixel-art survival horror RPG Look Outside to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 30, as first reported by Gematsu. The game has been available on PC through Steam since March 21, 2025.
The premise is simple and deeply unsettling: a strange event transforms anyone who peers outside into a grotesque monster, and the world beyond the glass collapses into chaos. Players are confined to a single apartment building, making careful runs into its hallways to scrounge for food, gear and makeshift weapons while crossing paths with neighbors who may or may not still be human.
Between those tense excursions, home base becomes a place to recover, cook, craft, pass time with games and build bonds with survivors who can be recruited and sheltered. Combat is turn-based but factors in the distance between you and your enemies, with more than 150 hand-made creatures to face down. Devolver bills the experience as small, experimental and proudly weird, running roughly 10 to 12 hours with about a dozen bosses and multiple endings to uncover.
