Murkoff’s Cold War Experiments Go Portable Just Ahead of Halloween
Red Barrels has brought its multiplayer survival horror game The Outlast Trials to Nintendo Switch 2, according to Gematsu’s reporting. The new version is available now as a digital release on the Nintendo eShop, priced at $39.99.
The game takes the Outlast series back to the Cold War, where the Murkoff Corporation snatches unwilling test subjects and runs them through brutal programs built to perfect brainwashing and mind control. Players can tackle the trials on their own or team up with others, and anyone who makes it through the “therapy” is promised their freedom, if they come out of it as the same person who went in.
Switch 2 is the latest stop for a game that started in Early Access on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 18, 2023, before its full launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on March 5, 2024. Red Barrels has kept the game going since then with seasonal content and limited-time events.
