A Rare Listen Inside the Recording Booth with Cushing and Lee | Flesh and Blood Narration Outtakes

Two old friends, a recording booth, and twenty minutes where the script didn’t quite go to plan.

These are the audio outtakes from the narration sessions for Flesh and Blood, Ted Newsom’s 1994 documentary on Hammer Films, narrated jointly by Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

Away from the finished, polished version, this is Cushing and Lee simply being themselves: stumbling over lines, laughing them off, sounding every bit like the friends they were after decades of working together. We’ve paired the audio with candid photos taken on the day.

Flesh and Blood is a warm, thorough look back at Hammer’s history, drawing on a wealth of interview material and tied together by Cushing and Lee’s narration. These outtakes are a small, unguarded glimpse behind that.

Narration: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee
