Rescue Is Only the Beginning as the Survivors Carry the Wilderness Back to New Jersey
Showtime has pulled back the curtain on the last chapter of its survival horror saga, releasing a full trailer ahead of the fourth and final season’s November 20 debut on Paramount+ with the Premium plan. Deadline rounded up the details Thursday morning, and the footage makes clear that getting off the mountain won’t mean leaving its horrors behind.
After three seasons stranded in the Canadian backcountry, the teenage soccer team is finally found and flown home. The trailer jumps between the brutal 1990s ordeal in the woods, a brand-new timeline that follows the girls in the days after their return, and the present, where their adult selves are still trying to bury what happened out there. One standout moment has young Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) telling a crowd that the team “survived because of love,” a claim the surrounding imagery does little to support. Hilary Swank’s Melissa also turns up giving a televised interview about the crash, and the whole thing plays out over an eerie take on Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic,” keeping the singer’s ties to the show going.
The final run is expected to settle the show’s biggest lingering mysteries, including who the infamous Pit Girl really was and who was behind Lottie’s death in the present-day storyline left open by the Season 3 finale.
Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress return alongside Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and Swank. The guest roster for the farewell season is stacked as well, with June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, Sam Braun and Dulé Hill all joining the fray.
