An Inherited Childhood Home Becomes a Hunting Ground in the Writer-Director’s Blood-Soaked Debut
Dark Sky Films has landed U.S. rights to writer-director John Valley’s horror thriller and is planning to put it in theaters in January 2027. Word comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that the film first screened for audiences at SXSW earlier this year.
The story centers on Sarah, played by Hailley Lauren (My Stretch of Texas Ground), who takes possession of the house she grew up in only to attract the attention of a neighbor whose fixation on her escalates into violence. Kelsey Pribilski (Man Finds Tape), Tinus Seaux, Danielle Evon Ploeger and Richard C. Jones fill out the cast. Valley said he set out to pick apart the comforting myths people build around “home” and “family” inside a gory genre framework.
International sales outfit Blue Finch Films has also closed a Canadian deal with Vortex Media and will keep offering the title to other territories at the American Film Market in Los Angeles next week. Greg Newman, Dark Sky’s executive vice president, worked out the U.S. agreement with Blue Finch’s Mike Chapman. The pickup adds to a library at the MPI Media Group genre label that already includes The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Ti West’s The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers, and Ted Geoghegan’s We Are Still Here.
