The Witchy Mystery Thriller Reimagining Baba Yaga Sets a New Bar for AMC+ Premieres
AMC Global Media says its bewitching mystery thriller YAGA is now the biggest exclusive series launch in AMC+ history, topping the service’s prior debuts for viewership and subscriber acquisition since its October 23 premiere. The company laid out the numbers in a Thursday press release, adding that the show also ranked as the No. 1 social drama across U.S. TV and streaming on premiere day.
Based on Kat Sandler’s hit play, the eight-episode half-hour reimagines the Baba Yaga myth as a contemporary coastal mystery. Noah Reid stars as private investigator Rapp, who arrives in a small town to look into the disappearance of fishery heir Henry Park (Hudson Williams) and quickly crosses paths with wary detective Carson (Clark Backo) and charismatic professor Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss). Secret lives and ancient magic pile up around them as the case deepens.
New episodes arrive every Friday on AMC+ in the U.S., with the fourth installment due Friday and a two-episode finale set for November 27. The Crave original is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media, with David Frazee and Rachel Talalay co-directing. AMC Global Media framed the show as part of a broader slate of witchy and supernatural titles that includes returning seasons of Mayfair Witches and Fallen in 2027.
