Jackie Estacado’s Monster-Hero Saga Gets an Art Gallery, a Magdalena Clash and a 1,996-Copy Blind Bag
Thirty years after Jackie Estacado first cut a deal with the dark, Image Comics and Top Cow are turning December into a full-blown anniversary month for The Darkness. Image Comics made the plans official for co-creators Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl’s iconic series.
The centerpiece is The Darkness 30th Anniversary Art Gallery #1, a special one-shot stuffed with landmark covers, sketches, process art and promotional pieces spanning the book’s three-decade run, plus commentary from Silvestri and Joe Benitez. Fans also get a Magdalena rematch one-shot and the next chapter of the ongoing 2025 series: The Darkness #10 by Silvestri with art by Raymond Gay, Agustin Padilla and Arif Prianto, in which only the Angelus stands between Sonatine and ultimate power.
Holiday collectors can chase a 30th Anniversary Blind Bag limited to 1,996 copies — a nod to the series’ 1996 debut — priced at $15 and packed with rare variants that can include foil exclusives and high-ratio incentives. The Blind Bag, Art Gallery and issue #10 are all due at comic shops on Wednesday, December 23.
