On the way, they face a satanic bull, a giant spider and a diabolical witch, but the closer they come to their goal, the more they realise that the demon they’ve been ordered to kill is far more human than they were led to believe. This lavish period fantasy was directed by Tokuzo Tanaka (The Snow Woman, The Betrayal), a former assistant to Akira Kurosawa and Kenji Mizoguchi, and features an all-star cast including Raizo Ichikawa (Shinobi), Shintaro Katsu (Zatoichi), Kazuo Hasegawa (The Ghost of Yotsuya) and Sachiko Hidari (Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters).
