The Warden Gets His Own Story, and Something Is Hunting Him
The first story expansion for Bloober Team’s sci-fi survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn now has a launch date, according to Gematsu’s reporting. Cronos: Lazarus drops on December 3, and the studio marked the announcement with a new story trailer.
This time players aren’t a careful Traveler picking fights sparingly. The DLC hands over control of the Warden, the imposing figure from the base game, and goes back to the period when he was still a loyal Pathfinder slowly turning into that creature. Cut off from the Collective and holed up in the Terminal, he is fixated on bringing a lost Essence back to life, a mission the Collective can never be allowed to discover.
That secrecy doesn’t last. A new hunter has been built and sent out with a single order to track the Warden down and kill him, and Bloober Team says this pursuer adapts to the player and can go toe to toe with the Warden’s strength. To survive, players will lean on a faster, harder-hitting combat style plus new tricks like dropping a decoy behind them and briefly turning invisible, all while piecing together scraps of the Warden’s past.
The studio says the shift is deliberate, calling the expansion “a brutal new chapter” that trades the base game’s precision and resource caution for escalating, large-scale encounters. The Steam listing credits PixelAnt Games alongside Bloober Team on development.
