The Serial-Killer Battle Royale Joins Something Is Killing the Children on the Studio’s Slate
Blumhouse Atomic just locked in a deeper bench of comic-book nightmares. Horror comics heavyweight James Tynion IV and his Tiny Onion banner have signed a first-look deal with the Jason Blum and James Wan powerhouse, The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive, and the pact opens with Blumhouse climbing aboard an adaptation of Tynion and Michael Walsh’s hit Image series Exquisite Corpses.
Tiny Onion and Lyrical Media are developing Exquisite Corpses for both film and animation. The Image Comics universe centers on a Halloween battle royale in which champions from America’s 13 oldest and richest families — recruited killers of every stripe — descend on an unsuspecting town and fight until the last slayer standing decides the winner. The initial 13-issue run has spun into three killer-focused series, with a second overarching mini planned for next year, and the books have sold more than a million copies in their first 18 months.
The new pact grows out of an existing partnership: Blumhouse Atomic and Tiny Onion are already developing Tynion’s Something Is Killing the Children, with Craig Zobel attached to direct and production eyed for next year, plus an adult animated series Tynion is spearheading. “From the moment I first stepped into the Blumhouse offices, it felt like coming home,” Tynion said. Blumhouse Atomic is lining up nine theatrical releases for 2027, from The River in January through Drew Hancock’s Seasons.
