Kimbyrleigha revisits the Halloween 1994 murder of Renée Rondeau in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, a case that went cold within weeks before her parents pushed for answers.
On Halloween night in 1994, 29-year-old Renée Rondeau walked home through the pouring rain to her apartment in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. She made it all the way to her front door. The next morning, she didn’t show up for work. Her murder happened the same night American Eagle Flight 4184 crashed in Roselawn, Indiana, and her case was buried under the coverage of that crash and one of the deadliest years in Chicago’s history.
With no suspects and no leads, it went cold within weeks, until her parents, Elaine and Gordon Rondeau, refused to let their daughter become just another statistic. In this video, we cover the Halloween murder of Renée Rondeau, the investigation by the Chicago Police Department, and how her case was finally solved.
