Pull Up a Chair, the Undead Host Has Four Stories to Tell
Anthology horror is getting the low-poly treatment. Indie label Top Hat Studios has picked up publishing duties on developer Liminal Road’s Spooky Tales, a narrative horror collection headed to PC through Steam, and word comes via Gematsu. The deal was revealed during Top Hat’s Fall 2026 Showcase alongside a fresh trailer, though nobody has pinned down a launch date just yet.
Think of it as a playable horror omnibus in the vein of Tales from the Crypt. A grinning, cackling corpse in a hooded robe introduces each segment from his library throne, and every chapter swaps in its own flavor of fear, all rendered in grimy PlayStation-era visuals with a dose of 1980s VHS charm. Between the storytelling, players tackle interactive mini-games tied to each tale.

The lineup covers a lot of ground. The Abyss-Borne hands you a harpoon in a strange seaside village where something ancient lurks in the deep, a clear nod to 1920s weird fiction. Rineko follows a school occult club that falls apart after a too-perfect new student arrives, leaning into Japanese body horror. Golly Soda Pop is a found-footage shoot in which a ratings-starved ghost-hunting crew breaks into an abandoned soda factory, and Pepperoni Johnson turns a teen pizza party into a home-invasion slasher.
If you want to keep tabs on it, the game’s Steam page is already live for wishlists, and the store listing flags it as psychological horror with a healthy streak of dark humor.
