Lights Out digs into the history of Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, from the death of singer Pelle Ohlin to the church burnings and Varg Vikernes’ murder of Oystein Aarseth.
Mayhem is a black metal band founded by two friends, Oystein Aarseth and Jorn Stubberud, in the 1980s. What started as a teenage Satanic rebel music group took an even darker turn when one of their lead singers, Pelle Ohlin, took his life, and their bassist, Varg Vikernes, lit several churches on fire before murdering Oystein.
