This is the scene that changed vampires forever: Christopher Lee bares his fangs for the first time in Dracula (1958).
Lee stepped away from the refined, aristocratic Count of earlier cinema and revealed a feral, blood-smeared, red-eyed snarl that permanently changed how vampires were seen on screen.
Before this moment, the screen vampire was the restrained, cloak-and-cane figure of Bela Lugosi’s 1931 Dracula and the earlier Universal horrors. After it, the vampire was fanged, visceral and dangerous.
