Sidney Isn’t Done With Ghostface Yet
Woodsboro’s most famous survivor is staying in the fight. Neve Campbell has said she will return as Sidney for the next chapter of the slasher franchise from Spyglass Media and Paramount, Deadline passed along the update after the actress spoke with the AP. The project is still in development and has not landed a director.
Campbell kept the details close, but she was clear on the one point fans care about most. “I’ll be in it,” she said, while noting she couldn’t share anything else about the sequel.
Her return for this year’s seventh installment paid off in a big way. That film, which found a now-married Sidney protecting her daughter Tatum from a new Ghostface, posted the biggest opening in the series’ 30-year history at $97.2 million worldwide and went on to become the top earner of the franchise with $208 million globally. Courteney Cox and Matthew Lillard also came back for that entry. Campbell has appeared in six of the seven films so far, sitting out only 2023’s Scream VI.
Lilla and Nora Zuckerman are writing the eighth film. The sisters most recently ran Peacock’s Poker Face and have writing credits on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Fringe, Suits and Prodigal Son.
