Seven Years In, the Horror-First Social Platform Rebuilds Its Movies and Books Sections and Debuts Its Own Gore Factor™ Rating
NEW YORK (November 2, 2026) – Slasher has released its largest update yet, expanding the horror-first social platform with new ways for fans to connect, discover and engage with the genre year-round.
Slasher, the social platform built specifically for horror fans by a horror fan, has released the largest update in its seven-year history. Nearly every part of the platform was revised during the two-year development process, but connection remains the core purpose. The updated experience makes it easier for members to keep up with the people they care about, discover what’s new and exciting in horror, and see how they are connected to others across the community.
The movies section has been completely redesigned with a lot of new features. A new “watch now” area shows which movies are streaming and where to watch them in their country, while a dedicated trailer section lets fans search, sort, and watch thousands of horror movie trailers. Each movie’s page now brings together ratings, reviews, where to watch, other members who are fans, recommendations, top reviewers, and movie lists in one convenient location.
The books section has also been rebuilt. Members can save titles to their lists and browse other members’ lists. Reviewer rankings are also available for books, recognizing people who review frequently, making it easier to find reviewers who may have similar taste.
Both the Movies and Books sections now include Gore Factor™, Slasher’s own rating system. Members can rate how gory a movie or book is on a scale of one to five blood spatters, then browse or sort titles based on the gore level they prefer.
“There are a lot of horror fans who absolutely love to see lots of blood and guts. Of course, there are also people who don’t care to see much of it,” said Slasher founder Damon Della Greca. “I wanted to add a way for people to know how much blood and guts they can expect in a movie or book, so they can decide if they want to check it out or not.”

Slasher first launched on May 31, 2019, as a dedicated home for horror fans, creators and genre imagery that often struggles on mainstream social platforms. Since then, it has grown beyond its original social features into movie and book discovery, horror events, community reviews and tools for independent creators, while keeping the community fresh.
“This is a major step forward for Slasher,” Della Greca said. “Hopefully, everyone likes the way it’s evolving. There’s still a lot more on the way.”
The update is available now. Halloween weekend may be over, but Slasher was built for the fans who live and breathe horror all year long.
Not all horror fans wait for Halloween.
